pippy
Sad news. 'Time and a Word' was always one of my favourite YES Albums. R.I.P. EDIT : I've just dug out the vinyl. I had forgotten how much of an influence both Peter Banks and Tony Kaye (keys) had on the 'spiky' sound YES had right up to the 'Topographic Oceans' days. P. jdgm
I remember Peter Banks...I preferred his playing to Steve Howe's....much more aggressive. After being thrown out of Yes with Tony Kaye, Banks briefly joined a 'new' version of Blodwyn Pig - leaner and much, much meaner than the original band with Mick Abrahams. I had seen the Pig many times, almost by accident as they were a constant support for bigger bands. About forty-three years ago, one Sunday night after Abrahams had departed, they sold out my local club mainly on the buzz of Banks being in the band. They played an instrumental piece, I've always remembered the title, called 'Rat Breath'...I'll never, NEVER forget this; I was standing half-way back...Banks put his head down as he went into the solo, people all over started craning their necks and he really fired up with some of the most powerful, beautiful and imaginative guitar playing I had ever heard up to that point. It suddenly got incredibly exciting. I can't hear that music any more but I can still see him there, in my mind. He had chops and firepower and to me was a very inspiring guitarist who deserved more success. R.I.P.

jaxson50
Chris Squire was such a powerful bassist too...here are a few clips from 1969 to 1972, the first few are with Peter Banks.. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm2xkDfm_C4&feature=related
Jammin' Joe
He definitely was an underrated player. Yes was one of the original progressive rock bands. He also went on to form Flash. Which was a pretty good band.
