Chico
Hi there! I am buying a 1982 les paul Custom (same year of my birth and the year my grandpa passed away - important year to me), and I'd like to know (as many friends here who is about to get a new axe) if the guitar is a good (not fake) one. The serial number is a 82732xxx (as the seller posted). Does that help to identify it? Thanks.. appreciate
BigKahune
. Welcome. Sorry no. It only shows that serial number is part of a serial number for a 1982 Gibson. Post some pics if you can - good size - good focus - no angles - well lit - no cut off parts. One straight overhead shot of the whole guitar, a shot of the whole front of the headstock, and a shot of the whole back of the headstock that includes the top end of the neck area behind the nut. . btoth76
You're welcome! Very nice looking Norlin! The bridge is an interesting one! Is it stock or some kind of an upgrade? Cheers... Bence
Gunner
I'm sure your guitar is fine (looks the age), but having a plausible serial number does not prove anything.
Chico
That's right Gunner... the owner sent me a bunch of pics.... the back of the headstock and the back of the pick ups... I only noticed that the bridge looks different... I'm sure your guitar is fine (looks the age), but having a plausible serial number does not prove anything. There are some numbers on the back of it... check it out!
cjsinla
1364356866[/url]' post='1352028']Hi cjsinla Sorry, but what do you mean by "rubbed stamped numbes"? There are some numbers on the back of it... check it out! I can't read them. But the ones I know about have between 5 and 7 numbers in ink stamp and a Pat number stamped into the metal. They look right but tell me what the numbers are. Mine have stickers and no ink as they were bought as replacement parts. But you can see part of the patent number. They used the same pat number for years.
cjsinla
This is the inside, long magnet with a pebbled surface on the end and white spacers. The ink stamp numbers for your guitar should correspond to the year of the guitar. This is a recent pic of a 30 year old pup.
