Really?? There's guitar players that don't know Terry Kath and his incredible guitar work with 70s Chicago!!

One of my all time favs and will be forever in my top 5.

I think Elliott Easton is in the same vein. An incredible body of work within a band context and when given 12 bars to work with he shines everytime. He has the knack to lift the song to another level.

Anyone who was around in the late 60s and early 70s and either bit into Chicago was certainly aware of Terry Kath.He was certainly at the top of the heap when it came to guitarists of the day,his leads were always over the top and he often outdid the whole horn section for his instrumental contribution to a song.Sadly he was another casuality from that era and his death was totally unnecessary because it was truly a freak accident but also came about from a very dangerous "game".

Naturally the shredder community would have no clue.

I guess when you grow up with something, you take it for granted. Mom had Chicago records and played them from time to time...I never paid them much mind. Next time I make dinner, I'll pop one on the turntable. Taking it on Uptown sounded pretty cool [thumbup]

I believe there is a quote from Hendrix when a reporter called him the greatest guitar player in the world, and Jimi responded, "No, Terry Kath is the greatest guitar player in the world."

IIRC, I read something somewhere way back when where it was Terry Kath who turned Jimi onto the wah pedal. So yes, Jimi was probably aware of who Terry Kath was. [thumbup]

Take a listen to Dialouge I/II on the Chicago5 album....I believe this is Terry and Cetera on the vocal exchange. some nice jamming and guitar work.
