zombywoof Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Just curious about how many instruments ya'll have gone to in any one song. One of the tunes we have been playing is the Stones "Factory Girl." About as simple a song as it gets really. But then I hear - ya know what would be cool - how about going from a standard tuned guitar to a mandolin to a fiddle and then to an open tuned slide guitar. Now I will on occasion grab another guitar to play some slide or switch to another instrument for a bit but four different instruments in one song has got to be a record for me.

Murph Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 This has guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin. I play them all, and it's an original instrumental. Actually, it has words, just not in this version....
FourStringz Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Played 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' once in a three-man band: drummer, keyboard/lead vocals, and myself: fiddle/harmony vocals/elec. guitar. Made for a nice effect: had the guitar on the whole time and kept the fiddle on my shoulder and the bow in my hand when playing the little guitar part for the 'devil's' solo.
