sijink
Can anyone tell me what model it is? I picked up today and heard that it is '61. It has a rosewood adjustable bridge. Thank you for any info. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sijink/8570303855/sizes/l/in/set-72157626965733764/
j45nick
This appears to be a very nice last-year LG-2, based on the centerline back strip. The next year, it would become the B-25. I'm assuming this has an X-braced top. If so, you've got yourself a very sweet little guitar that appears to be in primo condition. Normally, you might expect to find a Factory Order Number ink-stamped on the neck block, visible inside the sound hole at the base of the neck. There might also be an ink-stamped "LG-2" on the centerline back cleat. That could be very faint, so look closely.
Del Nilppeznaf
Nice, it looks in amazing condition for it's age. I just love the old original red guards on the Gibsons...with all the dark swirls and the much deeper ..less opaque colour. wish they would try and recreate them on the new models... i won't start on about my HB guard again tho !!!!! Danner
Looks like a B-25 to me, but most of them were cherry-burst, so I am not sure.
sijink
Thanks for the replies. I couldn't see any info inside guitar. Not even faint marks.. The serial number on the back of the headstock is 970013 .

The serial number on the back of the headstock is 970013 . That serial number says 1968, rather than 1961, and would be more consistent with the rosewood adjustable bridge. That would make this a B-25 rather than an LG-2. What is the width of the string nut at the top of the fretboard? In 1961, that should have been 1 11/16" (43mm), and in 1968, would more likely be 1 9/16" (just under 39mm).
jdd707
A worthy purchase (depending on the price). Quite handsome and a nice addition to a collection .... good condition. Congradulations.
sijink
Nut width is close to 40mm.
j45nick
Nut width is close to 40mm. I paid 1K for this one. Was that a good deal? Given the apparent condition of the guitar, I would call that a good buy.
bobouz
Definitely a '68 B25. First year of the adjustable Martin style belly-down bridge.

livemusic
That guitar is 45 years old! Must've been put in a case and never or hardly ever played.
j45nick
That guitar is 45 years old! Must've been put in a case and never or hardly ever played. It happens. I've got a 1968 that is in fairly similar condition. Those finds are the ones you dream about.
