Rabs
I saw an article on the front page of the Gibson site about this band.. Never heard of them before but apparently they were one of the first all female rock bands.. But Fanny.. haha.. means something different in the UK but still.. what a name lol ;) :P Pretty good though what do you reckon?

charlie brown
We used to see them, quite a lot around here, in the early 70's... CB

ZenKen
They have too. They probably dropped out of school to chase the dream and now they can't get a good paying job. And BTW, from the pics I've seen Charlie Brown plays bigger gigs these days than the sisters Millington and AXE® has a bigger rack than both of them. Big Bill
Still getting it done? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exHyd_xBOZo Ahh, I played many of a pig pickin in my day. I wonder if they got paid with free beer?
ZenKen
If the audience stage right is any gauge I'd say they might have been paid in cotton candy.
Izzy
Good bit of history info and groovey tunes. In a way it may be better to be washed up and play awful but have your BIG name save you, gig-wise...but these women sound like they are well practiced, oiled and tuned...that's pretty cool in itself. Back in the day, they had good/great crowds! Unfortunately, time waits for no one, and neither does musical tastes, and/or "Progress." But, it's good to still be playing, putting it out there, even if it's only for one's own "soul," and enjoyment! ;>) CB
SweetMarie
Jeez...I remember "Charity Ball" on the radio! I think they were also the backing band on "Stoney End" by Barbra Streisand--though I could be mistaken. Barbra Streisand backed by a womens' rock'n'roll band doing Laura Nyro songs--kinda surprising but not too bad!
Rabs
What a name! Could you imagine Fanny Harris!? Ha.. I thought it was fanny Adams? (as in sweet ;)) Mind you it gives you a legitimate excuse to walk into a record shop and ask for some 70s Fanny :)

The 70s were a very different time...have we learned nothing from "Boogie Nights"?

milod
I guess I'm pretty much with Izzy on this... Maybe not greatest virtuosity in what I heard, but doing well enough for certain in terms of doing about as they once did. For being a bunch of young girls they sound good and look good. <grin> Yup, all younger than I am. My understanding is that the sisters at least did keep playing through the years. It's perhaps not surprising, but I think a lotta "us" who once thought it'd be neat to be "discovered" played as well, but perhaps didn't keep playing or didn't return to playing. I think it's super that whether it's one's living, a few extra bucks, or just for the sheer joy of it, that so many actually have kept pickin' through the years. The older you get, the more it reminds you that you ain't daid. And, of course, I resemble that remark. As for "fanny" ... <grin> m

charlie brown
On an more serious note.. June has a lovely Les Paul (a 1956).. Whats that extra knob on the pick guard for? FANNY! Actually, she said: "it's a Late '50's model!" It could be a '57 "Gold Top,"with checking lines, perhaps... as it has Humbuckers. She got it from Jeff ("Skunk") Baxter, who had modified it, with the coil tap. '56 and '57's were Gold Tops (save the Custom's which were black), with the '56 having P-90's as well. Oh, and the extra knob, is that "Coil Tap." CB
