Has Gibson Stopped...

....using laminated guitar bridges and fingerboards? And if so What serial number or year did it stop? I Very much want a new Gibson J-45TV or Gibson Country Western Sheryl Crow. But I do not want a laminated guitar bridge or fingerboard on my $2700.00 guitar.

I don't think there is any definitive data on which serial numbers would have laminated boards and bridges. Even though Gibson has apparently gone back to one-piece boards and bridges, it would be prudent to look at the individual guitar at this stage. Obviously, on guitars with a bound fretboard, you won't be able to tell about the board.

Jeez. This identical topic was posted a week ago. Discussed ad nauseum. Even the subject line was identical. Read that, or just look at the actual bridges yourself, or call and ask the retailer to certify/guarantee if you can't inspect the guitar yourself.

I'd like to believe the serious thoughts and analysis from this Board regarding the introduction of laminate components in the same phase as Ren Fergusons departure made them think twice.

What do I know.

A clever decision to call it off it was – and the 2012 Hummingbird I kept in January plus others encountered, didn't have it.

Well, apparently not as much would if you'd actually read the previous thread, which included explanations of why the practice began and why it was ended. :)

I agree.....

At that stage of production they could possible 'sneak' one in on ya? Neck binding-wise... I doubt seriously that anyone would notice, however.

I didn't know that Gibsons used laminated fretboards and bridges [blush] [blush] [blush] . My 2005 SWD doesn't SEEM to have either. I'm not sure whether the finishing could hide the layers or not.

Thanks for sharing

Cheers
