So..these were waiting at my doorstep in a Priority Mail box this morning...

Wolfetone Dr. Vintage Neck (7.76K), Cub middle (6.52K) and Marshallhead A2 Bridge (9.21K). They'll be going in this pretty lady:

Once my new pickguard arrives, which will look very much like this:

...and then I need to wait for the tone pot, it's knob, capacitor, and 5-way switch.

Can't wait to hear it scream.

Aw dude. Nice. A buddy of mine is building a Leslie West tribute guitar, and he ordered a P-90 from those guys. I haven't heard it yet, but spec-wise it's closer to the old P-90's. Really nicely made pickup. [thumbup]

I have a P90 from Wolfe in my '64 Melody Maker. It really is the most "vintage" sounding P90 I've ever heard, but still with plenty of kick.

And it's funny how you say "those guys", because it really is a 2-man operation. Wolfe and Dave. Winding and Assembly.

Very much looking forward to the re-assembly.

As, I'm sure, are you, Ryan!

Looking Good!

P.

You have no idea. The pickguard has taken the longest so far, because the guy making it is in the middle of a move, and he's restructuring his website too. But he gave me a good deal, and I know his stuff is good quality.

I'd also like to give props to GuitarElectronics.com. I looked all over and they have the best selection of parts and at very good prices. Free US shipping over $49 (I couldn't take advantage of this, being in Canada).

All of the parts above came to about $36 before shipping, and $9 shipping from Arizona to Ontario, Canada. Was told 1-4 weeks, received all the parts in 2 weeks. Very well packaged and the parts themselves are pristine.

They also offer free wiring diagrams on their site, very high quality with dozens and dozens of configurations for all combinations of single coils and Humbuckers, and all clearly labelled. And if they don't have what you need, you can order a custom wiring diagram for a very reasonable price.

They have some really cool stuff you won't find anywhere else. Especially when it comes to their potentiometer mods.

  • 3 weeks later...

Finally an update!

The last part; the pickguard, arrived today. Flawless craftsmanship by Adam Enstrom at RedZLine Custom Guitars & Pickguards.

Brought it over to my tech this morning...should have it back Friday. I'm not going to get Any sleep tonight or Thursday night..lol

The long wait is almost over...

Last update!

So everything finally came together...2 months since I ordered the pickups and everything is installed and she sounds amazing.

Comparison:

Before

And After

In my opinion, definitely worth the investment. So much more versatility and the tone is unbeatable (for a Floyd-equipped superstrat).

Nice mods. Love the move of the volume knob north. [thumbup] Much better there. I'd try to find black screws for the pups and switch though. Those silver screw heads leap out at ya.

That's partly due to my shaky camera work :P They aren't nearly as obvious in the flesh.
