69tele Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Have a blues junior which I use for my fenders and looking to get another valve amp to use with my les paul/SG/335. Maybe able to get a supersonic 1x12 at a very good price used, or also looking at a good deal on a Marshall DSL15C. Any tips ? I play with back tracks and a bass player so no loud drummer, and blues junior at 15 watts is loud enough even for large venues (miked)
krock Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 The blackstar HT20 1x12 is around the same price as the Marshall but I think would probably be more versatile
bonzoboy Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Even though I am a dyed in the wool Marshall/Vox freak I think that the Ibanez TS-15 for about $450 or the TS-30 for about $600 would be well worth a look. They both have a wide sonic range plus they have the classic Tube Screamer circuitry built into them giving them an ability to out-raunch a lot of the competition.Ibanez also makes other amps in the TS Series.Of course the Marshall Valvestate and Vox AD and VT Series of amps are very tube sounding even though they're hybrids and are pretty well indistinguishable from tube amps in a blindfold test plus they are much lower priced than a comparable tube amp.The only way to get an AD series these days is to buy used but I bought an AD-120-VTH a few years ago and it's just an absolutely incredible amp that I paid only $400 for when it was bought new 2 years earlier for $1,200.they have a large number of amp models and effects also that are extremely faithful to the originals.
