Lotta guitar for the money!!!

Strangely enough, I like this guard configuration in black & white... even though I really dislike black guitars, not so keen on the red/blonde config though.... overall though I must confess I quite like the much maligned double guard look, I may even do it to the J-45 I use live if it continues to take the battering it gets week in, week out... fair few bruises on her now.

The 54' I down right dig. Usually its some other mutant pickguard style on em but these are nice.

Price..! But the price for such a guitar is very worth it.

If Gibson had not revived the Gibson Acoustic guitar this would be selling for $20-30k.

I'd check inside..under the top pickguard for severe wear though.

Refinish of top & that guard put there mmm..worth a look.

Pretty good price for basically a J-200....first thing I'd do is remove the pick guards....lol

And what a few years of aging can do for the price!

Be very careful. You never know what you'll find under paint and such on a Gibson. Trust me, I know the hard way.

The lefty pickguard on the '54 looks to me to be showing signs of out-gassing. Watch out! We may see guitar spontaneous combustion. Would that bum you out, or what? I keep out-gassing celluloid pickguards in a separate container. It's amazing how much damage they can do to a finish and to metal parts.

There really needs to be an official name for that type of moustached pick-guard.

bodes for a difficult conversation piece though, last night I plucked the old girls g-string, she sounds great considering the size of her moustache.... Psychology gives us the perfect opportunity to view the double guard as a soundhole for a mouth and locks of hair (if we want to be freudian about it) yet en masse we choose to refer to it it as a moustache...

After a second look, The '54 on Elderly site is one of the best examples (IMO) of that double-guard look.

Man, that rocks [thumbup]

I have noticed with Elderly Instruments' ads....They usually don,t mention the sound of an instrument! Sometimes they say...."good sound" and then occassionly they say..."real good sound"....This is one of the latter [smile]
