It's pretty impressive to think that this low budget album kicked off a musical Renassiance like the world has never known and will most likely never see the likes of again.Like them or not-one cannot deny that the Beatles had the biggest impact on the music world since Mozart,Bach and other musical giants. It's no wonder that famed conductor and composer Leonard Betrnstein at the time proclaimed them to be "modern day Mozarts".They came along at a point that couldn't have been better timed for their unequaled success, the world hadn't long been out of the possible threat of a nuclear incident-if not a war-with The Bay of Pigs in Cuba and the international community was still reeling from the assassination of the most internationally loved U.S. President since Lincoln-JFK.All of that combined with the musical Doldrums we were in with the maudlin, smaltzy music of the time with the beach-party croonings of Fabian,Frankie Avalon et al we were just longing for something to bring us out of the stagnant state that music has mired itself in and The Beatles provided the resuscitation the world and music in general needed.

Also regarding trivia,I have spent years gathering not only rock trivia but trivia in general and find it fascinating because when you look into any trivia subject you can be lead into side searches that can provide information that you never would never be aware of otherwise.Even trivia can play a large part in a person's quest and natural curiosity and knowledge.I pity people who are just content to sit and watch the world pass them by and not take advantage of the opportunity to find out more about the world around us and the amazing and interesting things that are not only around them and all over not only this earth but the universe.

Actually recorded on my birthday feb.11 in 63. This link is to an interesting video on the album and a celebration recreation by modern artist in a twelve hour span.

Yeah, I saw and listened to that. Interesting! The info between songs, is worth

the look, alone.

But, for me...Even with the modern recording, and contemporary artists, there's

still no denying that "special" Beatles chemistry, in the originals.

It's the one thing that is ALWAYS missing, in even the best "tribute" bands, and

other's that record their songs. Don't get me wrong...I'm glad they DO that,

as the songs certainly deserve it...and, there have been some great "covers" of

Beatle songs (Joe Cocker's versions, to name but one)...but (personally), there's

just no substitute, for the originals. [thumbup]

Actually thought the same thing. That no matter what artist remakes a Beatles song it never comes close to the original ever. They had "it" and clearly thats more organic than any manufactured tribute.

The "Cover versions" of Beatle songs, or even their individual songs, that I like the most have always

been those that are done in the covering artist's own individual style! Not those, who try to "sound like"

The Beatles, or JPGR, individually. We have the originals, we don't need "copies," in the recordings.

Great "Tribute" bands "LIVE," sounding like them, as much as possible, is a bit different. That's understandable.

But, I feel the same way about covering other artist's songs, as well. Do it/them your own way/style,

not their's. But, that's just "Me!" [biggrin][tongue]

I wish I could find the exact quote, but in "You Never Give Me Your Money", George Martin once said (paraphrasing) "If two of them were in the studio it was wonderful, three of them was exceptional, but all four of them was just magic".

I think they just had a history and a chemistry that came along at just the right time, and their music is virtually timeless. Why else would we still be talking abut a band that broke up almost 50 years ago?

Great thread! Besides Jaxson, Cookieman and CB I'm probably the biggest Beatles fan ever (not to hurt anyone's feelings).

I'm playing Saw Her Standing There in 2 weeks at an Alzheimer's benefit in Arkansas.

I love a song with a bunch of 7th's. The song is guaranteed to get people going (whether they remember or not). I know, not funny.

+1...when is the last time you've seen a +1? [biggrin]

Reminds me of the line "if you're bored then you're boring".
