cjsinla
So, a friend sold me this V in the early '80's for cheap. He had loaned it to a friend who had taken off the Klusons and put on Mini-Schallers that completely un-balanced the guitar. The guy had also put on a brass nut and taken off the pickup covers. This kind of thing happened a lot in the '80's. So, I recently put on a bone nut, Tone Pros tuners and added new chrome covers to the pickups (which were the original T-tops that the V came with.) Do you think that I will increase the value of this guitar if I refinish it?
ksdaddy
DO NOT refinish it. You should already know better than that!
mosquito3
Hi Cjsinla Beautiful guitar! I believe the value would decrease instead of increasing if you refinish it. Just for curiosity, why are you thinking about a refinishing job? Looks like it's in great shape. Francesco

The guitar has a few issues and I could argue that since it is no longer original in a sense I could consider a refin without doing much to the value. But, I do prefer the older look on an older guitar.

Here's mine, accompanied by a couple of it's friends; it's a '75 though.

Yours looks very similar to mine with the way that the mounted the necks with the fretboard raised up higher than they do these days. Not sure which construction I prefer. crazytrain513
Its a Norlin so you know how they like to change things up haha but in all honesty I think its a bit easier for access to the upper frets but I may have just gotten used to it. I'm not fond of the current V's construction. Very similar but the subtle changes seem to make all the difference.
NHTom
I would have to agree.......don't touch the finish. Put as many "correct" bolt on parts as you can and then just enjoy it with it's original finish. Not a huge V guy, but that is a nice looker!!! NHTom
