Hype
For those who have had a strap button installed on their Gibson acoustic, either on your own or the luthier does anyone prefer the heel of the neck? I went to a luthier a while back and requested he put it on the heel of the neck, came back a week later (I requested a setup as well), and the luthier instead said he installed it on the bottom treble side said there was more support there, problem is the idiot luthier didn't put a cloth washer between the strap button and base and to be honest I don't like that position where the strap button is. I want it on the heel of the neck. Anyways, do any of you guys know if it'll be too expensive to fill the hole and finish it up and move the strap button to the heel of the neck? j45nick
Do a thread search here on this topic. It's been discussed to death in the recent past.
retrorod
I would fire him......He would never touch my guitar again......Get an attorney....jt, maybe and sue for damages...... Of course, I am being silly.... and as Nick says.....it has been discussed 'ad nauseum'....(my words) ....and again ....just being silly! But expensive is a 'relative term'....? Motherofpearl
Bottom treble side works great! Unless he put it too close to the fretboard then that deserves a kick in the
kidblast
get us a photo.. based on your description however, sounds like it's where it "should" be
retrorod
I think that his"'beef" is that he 'requested it' on the heel and the dude placed it elsewhere without consulting him.....Twould piss me off also ......especially when you told the guy where you wanted it...Jes Sayin' BTW....I would NOT want it on the heel of the neck. Hype
Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, my beef is that the button is not where I requested it to be. Having the strap button under the treble side feels uncomfortable as the strap tends to angle the guitar outwards, whereas if the button was on the heel of the neck it would be placed 180 degrees which in my opinion is much more comfortable. Most artists I've seen who own J-200's opt for the heel position....

Why not the heel retrorod? Not enough support?
