MorrisrownSal Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Hi. Just bought this guitar. Serial# GR06100115 Can you tell me where and when it was built? Any way to verify it was not a second?
GuitarLight Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Epiphone serial number decoding list....GR does not appear to exist... see this link http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php/Epiphone_Serial_Number_Decoding
MorrisrownSal Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Thanks guys. GR they have no record of. LOL. Weird - prior owner says they bought it new and never touched it in terms of setup, or saddle changes etc. Yet this has a compensated saddle - which most others I have seen or heard of do not.
Serge_L Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Don't worry about the compensated/non-compensated saddles; I had 2 AJ500REs at one point, both natural finish, which had some differences among them, for instance different lower bout sizes, differently finished backs, but both had compensated saddles.
wildkat1 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Hi...I too bought a Masterbilt AJ500RE NS back in Aug. 08' with a similar serial# designation!!! Mine is GR-08010521...I bought it at a Guitar Center in Albany, NY. This guitar still sounds and plays great. I find the comment that there is no record of GR designated serial #'s very disturbing....how do we trace this guitar's history???
mgrasso Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I'm pretty sure the GR is a prefix for a Chinese factory. I have seen it before on other Masterbilts. So I would not fret over it.
ajsc Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I bought a "refurbished" EF500RA. It had a brown sticker over the original label. I was able to peel this back, & see when it was built??!
