Jake Blues
So, I have an '06 Special faded. I have some Fraiin PAF's on order with 4 wires for coil tapping. I'm considering adding a Strat-style middle P'up to get some more options tone-wise. I don't want to drill more holes for controls. I'm OK with using Push-pull pot switches. The only plan I could come up with is changing the Bridge tone pot to a master tone and the Neck Tone to middle volume (with push-pull on/off), and push-pulls on the volumes to split the coils. Any other ideas?

Yer welcome. rct Maybe you can answer my post in the Strat forum about how to add coils to the bridge and neck p'ups, remove the middle p'up and turn maple into mahogany. To use stock control locations, I would do pretty much the same: 6-way switch (like on a Jimmy Page custom) Bridge Bridge + Middle Middle Middle + Neck Neck Bridge + Middle + Neck Bridge Volume pot, push-pull for coil tap Neck Volume pot, push-pull for coil tap Middle Volume pot, push-pull for middle pickup phase Master Tone pot, push-pull for neck pickup phase (why not?) ...and after that, if you still feel you need more tone options, seek professional help. The six-way seems like a good option (I guess I've been messing around with Teles too much). I've been on the fence about phase switches...I talked my self out of any series/parallel wiring, but the at least the middle might be good.
