Poopsidoo
I have recently stumbled up a late 50's A-5 Gibson Mandolin. I was at a pawnshop of a friend of mine so he made sure I got it. This is really and incredible mando. It is so different from my 1985 Kentucky M850, at first I wasnt sure about it. But the volume of woody brightness has woven its way to my soul. The nut seems slightly wider. And havent figured out what Im gonna do for a strap. But since I have always played around with Celtic, this is just what I needed. Does anyone know where I might get a tailpiece cover with "Gibson" on it?
Pesh
Can't help you with the tailpiece trouble; but that's a very nice mandolin. Congratulations - not what I was expecting to see when the topic mentions 8 strings!
johnl
Nice find! For a tailpiece, your best bets are probably eBay and the Mandolin Café classifieds. Also, some online vintage instrument dealers like Bernunzio sell vintage parts. Good luck!
