Wow! What a difficult question. IMO it really comes down to the actual Guitars you play of each... If you can go to a Big City Store there may of each to compare.. Who knows which one will sound best to you...

Gibson LP JR’s are awesome Guitars...

    Tough choices!

Yes, the JR is great, a friend o'mine has a white with a single P90, it's a rock'n roll beast!

I have tried the Epi once... great tones... specially with drive, sounded pretty close to a real LP.

I know that the JR (at least the one of my friend) is a better guitar than the Epi... but it's not a "classic" LP.

Regarding trying guitars in a big store, it takes me time (weeks or months) to say if it sounds great or not.

I haven't tried the Faded Studio made all of mahogany (without maple top), that are pretty cheap in the used guitar market, I guess they sound pretty close to a real LP, don't they?

  2. Hi folks, I'm insterested in buying a budget "Les Paul", the best Epiphone as far as I could find out is the 60 Tribute, that comes with a made in USA electronics and Gibson 57 Classic PU set. Following you can see a great demo:

The specs are not anymore in Epi website, but I found this interesting article: Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Tribute Plus Review, and seems a pretty fair review.

Do you think that this would be a better choise than a Gibson LPJ or Gibson LP Junior o Melody Mayer? I think that none of these Gibson are real Les Paul -and the Epi is closer to the real one-, but at the same time, I think that the worst Gibson would be better than the best Epiphone.

I don't know what to do! HELP!!!
