I kind of agree Viktorija Arsic on this topic. Epiphones seem to have that stigma of being inferior compared to Gibson. I grew up believing that and got caught up in the headstock chase for decades, owing dozens of guitars in the process. But now that I live a very simple retired life I only own one electric: a 2021 ebony Epiphone les paul custom. It makes me smile when I play it and that's all that really matters.

Oops I meant to say 1977 les paul custom.

I would never buy a weight relieved or chambered guitar. My epi les paul custom is perfect as is at 9+ pounds. My 1997 paul was heavier though at 12 pounds.

I picked one up in ebony the other day. Best guitar I've owned in years. Pickups aren't too bad, but if I were playing out I'd probably consider a swap. Overall a great guitar!

Quite late to the party. I recently purchased an Indonesian EJ200 jumbo guitar. I have been playing for over 50 years and this instruments put to shame many of the high end guitars I've played or used to own. It is a quiet guitar that doesn't compare to the Gibson counterpart. BUT, plugged in this guitar is absolutely amazing! I realize there is quite the debate on country of origin, but to me a good guitar is a good guitar regardless of where it was built. Mine is a keeper and will stay with me until the grave.

Hi all. I used to come here once in awhile sometime ago, but got distracted by life I guess. Anyway, I finally have another Gibson in my life...a 2002 Les Paul Standard in absolute mint condition. My friend, a non guitar player, willed it to me. He had it when a guy owed him money and paid him with the guitar. It has sat in its case for at least a decade and a half. So I'm glad to come back and be a part of this group.
