[Original 50's j45/j50, who has one?]

I know martin has been doing this for sometime, it just really bothers me. Anyone know what was the last year  they stated gen. Mahogany? Going used would prob be best in this case

This is all great stuff guys thanks so much! Its between this and martin d18. The whole issue i have now with new martins is the "select hardwood" neck. Thats just not apealing to me. They really need to fix this on their spec sheet. Honestly if they want to use spanish cedar then just tell us. For the price we should know what we are getting. I know the j45 original is quite different compared to a d18 but this is my hog guitar shootout. Winner comes home

Amazing collection tom!!!! I wish i could afford one. I should have said im looking at the "original series" j45 gibson put out receantly. I love to learn about the vintage guitars as well. Thanks for sharing🙂

Im thinking about getting one. I do need some info from you guys who have played a few or own one. Any thoughts will help.pictures too, id love to see the inside of the guitar. Bracing and side walls. How accurate are the to that era?

So i just checked gibson's spec sheet for the j45 std.  The saddle and bridge pins are tusq. As for the nut it just says "black".  I do think gibson could explain this alittle better for us. Is it graphite, black tusq, plastic? Whatever it is, its replacable lol. Let us know what you get and enjoy it.

Id have that looked at by a solid repair tech or maybe submit this to gibson.  See what they can do for you or have to say about it. Dont want that to become a future problem. Thats a very cool guitar by the way!

[J45 Standard or J45 Studio Rosewood???]

I just purchased a j45 studio rosewood. It is a very nice guitar, at the same time it is not a true j45.  Honestly id say its closer to a 000-28 then a j45. Now if you are looking for something that looks like a j45 but want a guitar that has maybe a bitmore clarity(less bass) and easy to wrap your arm around the studio rosewood is worth owning. I dont care for the current std. Model b/c the neck is too thin for me and a graphite nut on a acoustic is just not what id want. I am thinking of grabing a 50's original model for myself b/c it has a full neck and that classic j45 sound, dry and boomy. Anyone here won a 50's original series? Any input would be great since i havent tried one.

Hi guys,

  Im new to the group and just purchased a j-45 studio rosewood. I love the guitar but i just noticed the guitar was built without verticle sidewall bracing. I was alittle taken back by this. Are all current versions of the j-45 made this way? If so, i never noticed.
