  1. This morning I ran over to Norman's Rare Guitars and bought a 1965 Humminbird. It sounds fantastic! What a beauty. I hope I'm not one-uping the o.p. but I'm just so excited. Um geez, no pics or vids yet.....uh sorry.....

Here's the Vintage Guitar Price Guide Index list I previously mentioned. This is a couple years old.

Not to say this is the ultimate list, it's just what they track. They state that exclude the most valuable guitars like the early D45's, LP's and Explorers and first issue Tele and Strat.

    All are pre 1970

     How many do you have?

    Is this a monthly subscription?

The most I have ever spent on a guitar was $5K (my '32 12 fret L1).  And even then, I knew I was paying top dollar and must have been on puppy chow for doing it.  I guess temptation took control of me and I fell.  Just have your friend call Gruhn, Elderly, Eric Schoenberg, or the like.  I am sure they would be more than happy to help him spend as much as he wants.  Me though, I still vote for the car.

Are you the poster who once said you don't own a camera, when asked to post a pic of your vintage guitar(s) for us?

Guitarnutt, I was thumbing through one of Dan Erlewine's books and I saw some information you might find helpful. In Arizona is the Roberto-Venn school of Luthiery. In MN is Red Wing School of Guitar Repair & Construction. In Michigan is the Galloup School of Guitar Building & Repair. This is just a few.

Heck, if you could work for Dan Erlewine, that would be the best education you could get.

Also, take a look at www.luth.org

Awesome, thanks! I will definitely look into that.

  5. I'm a recently retired auto worker, and guitar enthusiast, and would like to pickup some part-time work in the guitar industry. Sales would be ok, or, working as an assistant to a luthier would be even better. Would like to learn the trade. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
