  1. I've found some j45 better than others but never heard a "dead" sounding one.

Some say that the almighty j45 is a quest of life, I'd say mine would be the dead one...

Luthier and/or strings are the way to go generally. If it doesn't work, guitar sound is subjective so try another. That one that was judged as a "dog" by someone else and you may find fantastic 🙂

  2. Hi,

Do you know these models ? National 1155 ?

I saw one from 1951 for sale, apparently it has a Gibson j50 body. It has a beautiful sunburst, different from the Gibsons.

It is price around 3000$. I can't try it It's too far but in search of informations. Is it really the same body entirely as the j45/50 ?

    Thank you !

I've got one of these too - mine's about 2.5 months younger than yours, I can concur with all the rest. What i heard is that these guitars were True Vintage models made before they figured out that they were going to call them "True Vintage."

Mine has a red spruce top and is my favorite acoustic.

So that explains why they wrote J45.

I guess all TV have the same top no ?

  4. Hi,

I created a topic needing for help to find what model is my 2008 J45 but didn't came here.

I guess I'm too shy... So here I am with the guitar near her sister.

Yes I like tobacco sunburst 😁

On the left the 2008 J45 true vintage in question.

On the right a unique "noname" jumbo from 1968 made apparently by a german luthier. It's a solid sitka top with solid maple back and sides. Long scale.

See you on the forum's topic !

Mine's wonderful. I hope the OP's is too.

Yes it is, for me at least that's all that matters 🙂

The only complaint is the one I have with every Gibson, the nitro finish !!

I must have acid in my body because I change strings as often as my sockets and I can't keep a Gibson in mint condition whatever I do..... The nitro on the neck has really suffered and I made sort of "clouds" where my shoulder rests.

Bad for sale value but that's ok I'll keep it !!

  6. Hi,

I can't find the model of my J45. It is from 2008 and the label only says J45.

I bought it two years ago and the seller said it was a vintage model. I think it is a true vintage. The serial number is inside the guitar, not on the headstock.

Not a big deal for me but just to know what I have 🙂

I've put some pictures if someone can help me.

    Thank you very much
