[A vintage (jumbo?) acoustic and les paul professional guitars]

So my grandfather had these 2 guitars, he decided to take a humbucker out of the les paul and rig the acoustic with a pickup to turn the acoustic into an electric acoustic, but left the les paul without one.  Both guitars have seen better days but if I wanted to restore the les paul would I need to tear the pickup out of the acoustic or would just buying a spare replacement pickup be smarter?

Have you asked multiple people to smell your guitar too? Do they all say it has a musk? Have you tried letting it get some sunshine?
