thanks everyone! i reached out to the guy selling & said if he'd consider something closer to 1200 after an inspection, that i'd be open to it. doubt he does that, but thanks for the help, the thoughts & the clarity on the AJ & j45 differences.
so...the hunt continues!
there is a nice j45 50 faded here on reverb that has my interest. seems like a good price & i do like the satin over the gloss. also very interested in the dss17 whiskey sunset martin i played the other day at a place around here.
I'm really interested in a 12 fret sloped dread...but feel like i need to save a little more or wait around much longer to get lucky on one popping up.
i'd love any thoughts on the difference between a j45 & the martin dss17. sorry for all the questions! i've never quite spent close to 2k on an acoustic & trying to be careful about it.

would not really bug me if the price reflected that and of course, done right
it does look like the repair job was solid
I think the ballpark on repaired neck is 50% from what it would be without the break
not sure if that's fair but that seems to be the going rate.
Thanks Kidblast!

I wouldn't go over 1200 and only after I checked it out for the truss rod issue.
That’s helpful! Thank you.

Hey everyone. I could use your help as you likely have more experience than I do. I’ve been hunting for a slope dread for a while, and those southern jumbos are toward the top of my list.
I came across this one on Facebook and the price feels right. But apparently it had the truss rod overtightened, which split the back of the neck at the headstock, which was repaired professionally.
Curious if anyone would be overly concerned about that? This seems like a good price, even with the repair, but I haven’t been hunting for all too long to be confident.

well, they stopped responding to my email once i started asking specific questions, so i'm pretty sure i have my answer.

hah! y'all are great. i definitely don't make purchases off of craigslist unless i get to see it, play it, etc. i knew there was a chance it wasn't legit, but the label was confusing enough for me to ask the question here. appreciate everyone's responses. we'll see how they respond, but i'm guessing from what i've seen here....it ain't real or worth it.

Hey all! What I think would be a great deal just popped up on craigslist for me for a 1979 Dove Custom. I do notice that, on the soundhole sticker, it does not have additional information under the model number that i'm seeing on most (but not all) dove's from around the same time. Any ideas on why that might be?

I wouldn’t.
$2k off of a $4300 guitar doesn’t sound suspect to you?
Good catch. looking at online pics, the Keb models have orange labels.
And- Don’t export models normally carry a one year limited warranty?
Why is the certificate in the OP written on the form by Gibson’s Repair and Restoration department?
hmmm. . .
I didn't even notice the 'repair & restoration' piece of the cert. great question.
as far as the warranty, here is what gibson customer service told me today:QuoteThanks for writing. The warranty is only valid in the country of sale, so in the unlikely event that warranty service would be needed, the instrument would have to be returned to Japan for evaluation. Outside of the USA warranty terms and service are defined and handled by the individual countries' distributor. Information on warranties for USA purchases can be found at the link below. I hope this helps!

That label shows it was stickered on Sept. 18, 2023
oh! clearly i don't know how to read the serial numbers & what i used to search was wrong. thank you.

thanks for your thoughts, everyone! a few updates...
- it isn't used. it is new & would come with a gibson warranty (are there any issues with warranties for guitars purchased overseas?).
- thanks for the heads up on the differences between the j45 & the keb mo 3.0. i was able to play a keb mo 3.0 back in Dec and really liked it.
- attached is the close-up of the sticker.
- when i search the serial number here, it says it's a custom shop from 2022...but the warranty cert says it was inspected in november of 23. is that weird?
- for folks who know more than me, does anything look off on the sticker or the cert? again, the store that is actually selling the guitar is legit & i see no reason to be concerned about a counterfeit, but just doing my due diligence.
- i get the 'purchasing from somewhere like sweetwater' is less risky, but this is already just over my max budget. no chance i can afford any new or used keb mo 3.0 i've seen anywhere else.
Thanks for all your help!

hey friends. i've been on the hunt for awhile for a 12 fret, sloped dread or southern jumbo. i came across this one over in japan. Ikebe seems to be a reputable store from the research I've done, so I don't think they're lying about it or it's a fake. apparently, it was some sort of prototype or 'inspired by keb mo' as the sheet says. i'd love to hear any thoughts on the certificate or the model. i've asked for a picture of the sticker to see what the model number says.
Inspired by Keb Mo 12-Fret J45 Standard?

i've learned a lot here, thank you all! i decided to pass. i did find a keb mo in good condition for 2400 & an iris df smeck with an open headstock for 2800 that i'm trying to decide between at this point i think 😬
