  1. Hi folks,

recent forum member so just getting used to looking around at the posts. I've owned my Epi Sheraton since 1996, it was built that year and comes from the Samick factory in Korea (as far as I have been able research) which I understand was a good period for manufacturing them. It certainly is well made and has spent more of the last 14 years in a case than being played. My mid years were time poor and I have to admit guitar playing went on the shelf from the age of 16 to around the last couple of years. Family grown up now, a bit more time to get into the guitar. So I'm still a bit of a newbie, but always kept my interest, just the skills suffered. My Sheraton is all original, with the Gibson truss rod cover, Ser No. S6079735, bought in the UK when I lived there, now living in Australia. I'm in the process of giving it an upgrade/makeover in the next 6 months, pups, wiring, pots etc. Will post some pics of the process when completed. I still work away so not always able to check the forum out. Will try to become more regular in future. A couple of pics of it taken today, all the best, Mike

    Hi Mike,

And a big welcome to another Aussie... There are a few of us here [thumbup]

As you can see from my 'Lust List' below, I have been keen to lay hands on a beautiful Sheraton like yours for some time.

You probably already know this but, specifically, your geet was manufactured in the Samick plant (the S in the serial number) in 1996 (the 9) in July (the 07) with the last four digits being the production run number.

Hope that assists... & what mods are you considering?

    Cheers,

  2. Geeze - what kind of entry is this ?? In the past 2 years I have 2 Epis ' date=' A Sheraton 2, ( a "2nd" too ) and one of the new Les Paul Special SC TV Yellow Limited Edition models . I love 'em , love 'em , love 'em ! It's sad you are not happy with your Epi's ... hopefully you will find nice models like I have. I think Epiphone is a God-send , really , as most quality instruments cost an arm and a leg....( thousands sometimes ) , but Epi is makeing great stuff for 1/3 the price ! Try to find one of those Les Paul Special SC models that just came out ( TV yellow and translucent cherry ) - they have P90's and are soooooo sweet ! Cheers !!! [/quote']

    Sorry Sal...

    Who doesn't love their Epi's???

Not this 'little black duck', that's for sure!

    eggmuffins,

  3. I still want my bumper sticker...

...but Dear Lord Epi-head... Please feel free to send it along with any or all of these!

PS: In the mid 70's I had a Gibson Grabber that I had moded with two Bill Lawrence JB PUPS & 3 way switching (sorta a mutant G3)... In hindsight, I think I will put that one down to a severe case of 'Stanley Clarke Wannabe Syndrome'

  4. Hey fellow Epi-heads,

This is fantastic work, & much appreciated, but what should I make of a 'Zephyr' with R99Mxxxx serial number.

From the list I am thinking 'R' = Peerless Korea, '99' = 1999, but what does the letter 'M' before the four final numbers indicate?

This doesn't quite fit any of the code patterns on the list.

    Cheers.
