  1. Not really although truthfully since I purchased that black and gold amp on top the 5150 rarely gets turned on any more. That new Marshall is unbelievable.

Well, if you ever get to Texas, tell me! I might be in a position to take it off your hands after our house is rebuilt. Got burned out in August... -Rod-

  2. This is my dream guitar that I've been lusting over since I was a teenager, finally a Gibson to call my own :)

2011 Wine Red Studio/chrome hardware. Exactly as I've been dreaming of all these years, please like a dream and sings like a bell.

Congratulations! I hope you two are happy together lol -Rod-

  3. My 2nd Studio a Joe Bonamassa (To go with my Gary Moore)

To report on Variations, this comes with a SHORT tennon toggle & is 50's wired on a Metal plate (Unlike my other 2 which are on circuit boards)

I see that short toggle. Interesting. I haven't opened the back panel of my Anniversary Flood. lol

  4. This is my 1987 Studio Standard. These were made for a few years in the 80s. These have a bound body and fretboard like a Standard, but have dot fretboard inlays and a slightly thinner body than a Standard. Original bulletproof "chainsaw" case too. Guitar is in amazing condition and plays and sounds great.vIMG_2568.jpgvIMG_2569.jpgIMG_2572.jpgIMG_2575.jpg

Very very nice! Is it for sale? -Rod-

  5. I only shop zzounds for my drum stuff. I shop around, get the best price and just call, give em a part # and ask for %10 off. Works every time

for me. I also like the option of 8 payments when buying high end items. And they will take any competitors coupon, which always sweetens the deal.

I could go broke doing that, 10% at a time :D

  6. zzounds.com has em in stock too and are expecting the green swirl in Oct 15th. $1,549.00 to ur door. Im sure if you called them, they would knock %10 off too.

Get all my drumming stuff from them and no one comes close to their price matches. But u gotta call [biggrin]

I was wrong about the price at the other shop. It's the same as ZZ's but I sure didn't get 10% off. Ah well.

I once had the Wine Studio LP, btw. It's the one Gibson I just didn't care for. The gold was nice with the wine but the action, at least on mine, or for me, just didn't make it. It seemed clunky.

  7. Thanks, I'll have to take a look. Every Studio I've played rival the high end Gibson's in nearly every aspect, definitely a great value.

I think it has the potential to be a good investment too. Time will tell :)

  8. Does Gibson still make these? That Studio looks beautiful.

Yeah, it's a great looker and a great player too...better than I am. As far as I know Gibson's finished their run but they are still available. The last I saw, americanmusical.com still had at least one, possibly more. It's like $1579, shipping included. Mine came in flawless condition. -Rod-

  9. Well that sucks u lost ur stuff in a fire. But I definitely am digging ur flood swirl. I have a Line 6, its fun for messing around with. I grabbed a Fender '65 twin reverb and absolutely love it. Them 490r and 498t pups should sound sweet thru a class A tube amp. That 498t should scream. I have always taken my guitar with me when buying a new amp to plug in. Fairly new at the guitar end of it. I am a drummer but picked up the guitar in a seriously sense and am loving it! Hope ur new rig works out for u B)

I think it's going to be great :) Your nick..you have a Peavey 5150? I had one until around 2004 or 2005, the 5150 II Combo. That was one hot amp! I wish I still had it. Wish I still had the tubes! -Rod-

  10. Had one of these in my hands. The pics don't do it justice. Beautiful guitar man!

It plays as well as the Standards I lost in the fire. If I had one wish, is that it would have come with open pickups. I could put Seymour Duncans in, and may yet, but with what this one cost...nearly up there with a new Standard...I really don't want to devalue it by making even temporary alterations. My new amp is yet to arrive, should be here Thursday, and if they go good together I'll likely forego the new pickups. I tried to get some really good pics, and did, but none showed what this guitar really looks like. Thanks for your comments :)

BTW, in the fire I also lost my Digitech GNX4 and Fender Pro tube amp. In fairness to the wife, I replaced both with a Line6 Spider MKIV 150w combo amp and foot controller. More power but I'm going to miss rolling my own with the GNX4, even though the Line6 has effects up the wazoo. It's not the same.

  11. HAHA 2 JBs in a row! I straightened the poker chip since taking the pics.

It came with the chip crooked? Just curious.

3 more days and my blue swirl will be here! I'm chillin in an Oklahoma casino huffing into a paper bag cuz I'm so anxious to see it! -Rod-

  12. Coming on Wednesday 9/21: 2010 Gibson Les Paul Studio Flood Issue, Blue Swirl

We had a fire on August 2nd and I lost 2 guitars, most of my other gear and pretty much everything else too. Luckily, me, my wife and the cats were all unhurt. The blue swirl that's coming next week is a replacement for the two I lost. One was a studio, one was a standard and getting an upper tier studio ($1549) was a compromise between what I lost and all the other stuff that we have to replace. I KNOW I'm going to be happy with it when I open the case! This will be my 4th Gibson. The unmentioned 3rd was a '57 Black Beauty Reissue that got split up in my last divorce...lol. Photos coming on the 21st!
