Apparently recent Epi serial numbers don't work with the Dater Project. What about a Wildkat with the number 1007206045? Various sites say different things, but the most logical seems to be 10 = 2010, 07 = July, 2 = factory code, 06045 = production sequence. Any thoughts?

An Epi Alleykat with the serial number 00040120. According to the dater project, Korean made in 2000. Sound about right?
Do you regret your Epiphone purchase?

I own two Epis, including one that I just acquired (yet to post pics!). Build quality and finish on the older one (a Dot, made by Samick I think) is immaculate and has stood the test of time (20yrs so far). The new one is not as good - build quality great, but finishing not 100%. I am very pleased with both purchases - the old one because it's beautifully made, and the new one because no-one else makes anything quite like a Wildkat at anywhere remotely close to the Epi price. Having played several Epis over the last few months in my search for a new guitar, I found they varied a fair bit. The best made and finished one I played was a Wilshire which is not by any means an expensive guitar.
Try them, and if you buy an Epi don't get it delievered to you - pick it up from a shop where you can try it (check it, have it set up properly etc) before you take it home.
