I know it's an old thread, but decided to try anyway. Have an SG Robot (the one with the MCK dial). Put on a new set of strings and it's charged, but not tuning. White LCD Peg is flashing, which I read means there is a short somewhere. Checked the strings and they all seem short enough to cause that. Any suggestions what else it could be?!
Make sure string ends at tuning pegs do not touch a nearby string.

I went with the new Tronical tuners on mine and all is much better. The battery just pops out and can be charged separate and you can have an extra battery ready to pop in. No more MCK with ribbon cables and I now can use a solid tail piece without the ceramic inserts for better sustain. The whole works is in the headstock now.

Also intonation is critical for the accuracy of tuners. I checked mine and the intonation was off by quite a bit, did intonation and found that tuning became more accurate.Fix is to recalibrate, and also to make sure you follow the string attachment guide.

Here is an attachment that someone put together. I find it is the best charging instruction I have found!

GOR is as you stated.I'm sure this topic has been flogged to death, but I'm new in this world and searching hasn't yielded anything concrete.
I've seen many threads referring to a potential upgrade for some of the early Robot models. It's not at all clear to me which guitars are likely to be upgradeable and exactly what the upgrades are. Perhaps these are mysteries to everyone and my question is moot.
I guess the newer versions are faster and have smaller tuners. Is there something else that I'm not aware of? I see mentions of the MCK
ng different on newer versions. How so? More available tunings? Does it do something beyond the functions that exist in the first gen?
I believe my newly acquired SG Special Robot is from the first generation. It was made in '08. Am I correct on that.
And here's a really embarrassing question. I see a lot of refs to GOR. What does that stand for? Gibson Original Robot maybe?
So the key question is, what is expected in this upgrade, should it in fact ever arrive?
Thanks,
Greg
The much anticipated upgrade was for original owners of the GOR. It is a mystery as to when and if it ever happens. My guess is never! If you are a second owner then it will not be availible for you.
