You could have just gone outside and mowed your lawn, but you had to insult the rest of the Americans on here and then go outside and mow your lawn...

here is a couple of truths for you, like it or not.

    1) the truth is not an insult

    2) reality is not an attack.

as you can see by the post you quoted, i knew people would get butt hurt.   too bad.   i notice while the two of you whined that i was being mean,  no one  was able to make the claim that anything i said was untrue or not correct.  well, i reject political correctness,  because it's stupid.    while  some folks feel we should powder everyone's bottom to be sure they don't get a rash,  i disagree. it takes ZERO effort to ask google how to do something.  an almost 30 year old system that has basically remain unchanged and people still think it's legit to claim they can't figure it out.

there are  things i can't play on my guitar. you know what i tell people when they ask why not, even though i've been playing for decades?  i tell them it's  because i don't practice often enough.  i tell them the truth instead of offering excuses.  it is my opinion  that  the rest of the world would do very well to adopt the same  tactic.

also, i don;t need to cut my lawn anymore this year.  seasonal growth is done for this year.  now i  need to vacuum up all those darn leaves

lol - yeah, pictures can be a learning curve.  You need to post them to a site (i.e. IMGUR.com) and then post the link here.  Post them to a site means got to IMGUR.com create an account, and then you can upload them from there.  Once it's uploaded you edit the size etc...  and there will be links you can copy and post places for the picture to show up.  ...neighbor kids are good!

i know folks like to be pleasant to others and all, but the truth is, the internet  is already 26 yrs old  kids born at the same time as the internet have careers and kids of their own.   it's not by any stretch, new technology.  it baffles me that after all this time there are people who still don't know how to post a pic on a forum.    a google search returned 344,000,000 results.    i don't expect people to learn bb code, although it is helpful if you spend any time in forums.  however, you cant get more basic than  posting a pic,  or googling how to do...just about anything you could imagine

  4. it would be hard to choose from 2 possibilities...

    a) johnny a with no bigsby, and 57 classics, locking tuners, and a roller nut with a 60's slim taper neck in a  honey or tangerine burst

    b) 335 with a nicely figured top in the school desk finish,  same neck as above, but with ebony board and block inlays

  5. i like summer because it means riding and bass fishing.   last month i bought a house, and last weekend, 2 puppies. that means that this summer will not be spent riding or fishing. it'll be spent cutting the vines off the back fence, refinishing the deck,  sealing the bilco doors, and cleaning up dog pee. you can;t ge mad at them though, because they are way too cute i would love to post an image, but for whatever reason the forum wont let me. i have no patience right now to screw around trying to figure out why the ef this forum auto edits my bb code

  6. afaik, it's legal for them to protect the body shape, and other aspects that make their instruments unique.  if that's what they want to do, they have the right to do it.   there's enough wiggle room in there to allow other manufacturers to get pretty similar before there is an issue.  gibby can go after chibby of it wants to, but it will amount to nothing, so i doubt that is who the video was aimed at. i suspect it may be boutique builders, and possibly folks like rondo, as well.  if they do get more agressive with other builders who are using parts of their design,  i have no beef with it, as long as they dont use intimidation tactics to scare little guys  away from doing their legit thing.

  7. a very good choice,  imo

i will say this about strats:

i have one. it's a  hot rod.   truth is, it's a more versatile guitar than my les paul.   it sounds better, and plays  great.  i play the lp more because it's more comfortable.  but the strat is a better all around guitar.

  8. other than the white background i LOVE the new forum for the way it works now.

Gibson's seem to last forever and the older they get the better they sound.. Not all of the C, rounded or 50's style necks feel the same, some are unique to the model.. I think you need to go somewhere and hold and feel them.

I just had a strange thought after taking in your info, so I'm typing.,  I think a 335 could fill you're requirements.. I don't know why it just popped into my head..

a 335 fits everyone's requirements, because they are the coolest guitars ever made 😀

With that kind of money and a little bit extra, I'd go buy a nice preowned Les Paul Standard, which in fact I did a few moons back from Reverb myself. Best-playing guitar I have had laid my hands on (asymmetrical neck + plekked frets).

dude - do you realize that guitar is defective? it was made backwards

  11. i'm moving next weekend, so i don't feel like dragging out my board to take a pic. however, what i have is:

    guitar>polytune>pitchfactor>ocd>firey red horse fuzz> blueprint delay>rotochoir>amp

i dont use  any of the pedals that much.  each one has certain specific things i use it for.  75% of the time i use the amp's o/d and  a little delay.

i will take this opportunity to  repeat something i say each time the subject of pedals comes up -

there is no fuzz ever made that comes close to the firey red horse.  if you like fuzz  i dont care what sound you're after, the red horse will deliver.  just be sure to get an older one with the 3 way switch at the top that allows you to use different transistors according to your needs.  if you think your fuzz sounds better, you're wrong.  it doesn't.

  12. epi has some nice guitars. i won't knock them.  i've had a few that were excellent.  swapping electronics is no big deal, so that's a plus.

my only complaint with them is the poly finish. i've played somewhere the poly was like what they use on deck furniture. it's soft and when my hands warm up they start to stick.  i tried baby powder, but it gums up if i sweat.

i've been playing a 14 studio pro since new, and i love it.  i keep saying i'm eventually going to swap out the bridge pick up (bb pro) for a 57 classic, but i haven't done it yet.  getting a used studio will get you down in the $700-$800 range, you'll get a great guitar.   you'd have to spend almost that much on a new epi to get something comparable anyhow.  the only fool proof thing you can do is get out there and play a few of each

I'm sorry to say that I, too, really don't like the vast amount of white for the same reason mentioned by Rabs.  It's very fatiguing on the eyes after a short period of time.

I like the cleaner look and I'm sure once I get to spend a bit more time I will work out the new features but, for now, my eyes hurt...

    Pip.

    agree

  14. your guitar is haunted. best thing you can do is send it to me, i will contain the evil so it can't harm anyone. i do this as a free public service. pm me for a shipping address

  15. Do you want a photo taken from a special angle to prove that the guitar belongs to me?

    Or just a regular photo?

    :P :P :P

the most important thing of all is to have the right things in the photo so it can be known to be authentic.

    2) the hottest babe you know, naked.

    3) the 2nd hottest babe you know, also naked, bonus points for garter and stockings (but nothing else)

    optional: the guitar in question

  16. for those of you who can handle subtitles, there are some horror flicks you NEED to see

audition: japanese, and will scare the crap out of you. i first saw it with a buddy almost 20 yrs ago. the killer makes a certain sound at one point in the movie. to this day, i know if i call my buddy at 2 am and make that sound into the phone, he won't be going back to sleep.

a tale of 2 sisters: korean, i had to watch this one 3 times before i fully understood it. watch the korean version, because like all good movies, hollywood did a version of it, and it sucks.

let the right one in: swedish (i think) only really KINDA a horror movie, but great none the less. pretty sure there is a dubbed version.

honorable mention: the host, train to busan, marebito

  17. man, that think is gorgeous!

but i'm gonna tell ya, if you can't fall in love with that one, you need your head examined. also, it's way easy these days to have those "fancy switching options" you didn't get. all you need to do is go on ebay, and buy a pc board from any lp studio. plug and play. takes all of 10 minutes. that is, as long as the pick ups in your guitar have enough wires.

  18. So what sort of hobbies do you have?

i used to collect movies. specifically kung-fu, sword films, period/historical films like saiguk and taiga dramas. at one time i had over 800 titles just in kung fu. i eventually stopped because it became unwieldy, and the media kept changing. some of those films could not be had on dvd or blue ray, and i haven't had a vhs since i dunno when.

i also used to study feudal japan. not just war and politics, samurai and other nobles, but what life was like for lower classes. the taiga dramas got me started on this because they are not always (often) very accurate. the last couple years i have not been studying because of my life turning inside out killed alot of my free time, and i have had way too much stress to concentrate.

i like bass fishing when i can. somehow all the fun stuff i like, gets killed off by seasonal mandatory overtime. [cursing]
