What is significance of only a single digit pressed into a headstock?

I'm looking at an apparent tobacco sunburst third issue ES-350T ('77- '81). There is a single number four pressed into the headstock nicely centered and close to the top of the crown. There is no sticker or any other marking visible from above the f-holes. Remains to be seen if any number can be found deep within the body or on the pots. The pickups show the unified bridge/tailpiece patent number. Gibson Customer Support believes it is a legitimate ES-350T from the pictures I provided.

I've tried pasting or attaching photos to this thread but it crashes on my iPad's Safari browser. I can do so once back at my desktop.

Any information on unusual serial or order numbers on head stocks?

Thanks
