Jeff Green
Hi, I bought myself a Les Paul Ultra II awhile ago and eventually the plastic jack socket cracked due to the fatigue of plugging/unplugging. After several attempts to purchase a replacement from Gibson/Epiphone, contacting a local authorised Gibson dealer and getting zero help from Gibson - even the Gibson dealer got no response. So I decided to DIY. I downloaded Front Panel Designer s/w (http://www.frontpanelexpress.com/index.html) and measured up the original jack socket panel and then designed a replacement in gold anodised 1.5 mm aluminium. That took a couple of attempts - due to the imperial -> metric thing. The tricky bit is forming the flat panel to the curvature of the guitar body but achievable with some perseverance. Looks quite professional, even if I do say so myself ... I'll try to upload a picture and the .fpd for other people to use. Regards,
