I'm considering hunting for a early 50s J-45, mainly because late 50s ones started a few big changes (including 20 frets, unscallop, big pickguard , especially ADJ saddle, most of which are commonly considered not good). But a good friend of mine claims he prefers late 50s J-45 (straight braced), i wonder if there are his comrades. On average, what are the tonal differences between early 50s J-45s and the late?
