I've just been given (lucky boy) a 1989 ES-335 and I have noticed that inset on the 4th fret what looks like a tiny dot of mother of pearl, it's centred right in the middle and I don't think it a manufacturing flaw. Maybe it's some sort of factory applied marker to prevent the instrument from being converted into a different spec? Any ideas? Kindest Regards. Dussey.
