gotomsdos
Saw a Brad Barr show on youtube where he's play a 1951 J-45. But the J-45 looks like its bridge is not original, cause it has drop-in saddle (not a slot/through bridge one). what do you think ?
tvguit
Brad says his J-45 is from 1951 but since dating a vintage Gibson is so difficult, I wonder if he may be a few years off. I've seen some '53 and '54s have the slot bridge but I've never seen a '51 have a drop in saddle unless some work has been done on it.
TM
Didn't get a good look at the bridge or pickguard. A 51 would have a through saddle. Most 51s and some 52s have the distinct pickguard color. Of course the 52 can be identified by the FON Z prefix.
