Dominic Lee
In the official website, 1963 block is a pair of burstbucker 1, 2 pickups, but in the custom 335 Block inlay, "Unlike the Custom Shop 1963 ES-335 Block reissue, which has a pair of Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers, the ES-335 Block Inlay comes with Burstbucker Pro 1 and 2 pickups" I see some 63 block reissue with 57 classic, but most of this model is burstbucker, can someone tell me the truth? soundjunkie
Welcome to the confusing Gibson pickup world. My Memphis 1963 ES-335TDC, 50'th anniversary is equipped with Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups. The Custom Shop '63 RI has different pickups than mine (not sure what they are) and the standard "block ES-335" has 57's. I guess it's cool cause they are all unique sounding pickups. I had 57's in my ES-135 and didn't care for them all that much. I L O V E the Burstbucker 1 and 2 in my '63 Memphis. The other thing that's cool is it makes all three '63 block models different, so you can buy all three!
