Fret Fodder
I could really use some help with my Gibson Country Gent. The tuning machines (2) are "binding" when tuned close to proper string pitch. With no string tension, they turn easily. The tuning machines are the stowe-away crank type where the crank handle folds over into the top of the machine key. I'm using the Gibson "Smooth Wire" flat wounds in 11 G. I've contacted a few reputable Gibson Dealers on-line sending them pictures. Apparently these tuning machines are somewhat rare? Nobody can provide me with a factory replacement. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I've been away from the Gent for a while (couple of years) because of the issue and really want to start playing it again. Thanks, Fret.
henry_lee
High Fret - Probably an imperfect cut on the nut slots. No big deal, just take it to a tech to have them re-evaluate the slots and angle on the nut itself. best, henry
