jthiessen
Hello all! I am taking on a project of building an electric guitar. I love the sound of the SG and am modeling my creation after it using Mahogany woods etc etc. BUT I was wondering what I should use for pick ups! I know the standard SG comes with a 490R and 498T but I've also been considering the 57/57+ combo. I am trying to get a really warm, dark, chewy sound that works well with fuzz and distortion. Any suggestions? Thanks!
tazzboy
490R is Alnico 2 and 498T is Alnico 5 you might want to get the 490R and 490T since they are both Alnico 2 magnets if want. 57 Pickups are really good too.
dsl
I agree - the 57s. Maybe the "regular set" instead of the 57/57+.
