MacPaolo
Hi, I'm new to the forum. I just bought (in Italy) an Es-175. I have a question about the strings on that guitar. The Gibson website says the Es-175 should go out with Gibson Brite Wires 010. At the music shop they measured the little E and said it was 012. This is strange enough, anyway those strings were quite good as well, even though I am not quite sure they were Gibson strings. I have now replaced them with a new set of a brand different from GIbson. When I removed the strings I noticed that the little balls on the one end of the strings are made of white metal (silver) except that of the little E, which is brass (or golden). Is this typical of Gibson strings? I have never used them, so I cannot say. The reason is that I would like to find that set of strings again but I don't know if they are Gibson strings. Paolo It' a moovement for era's music scene by Gibson. The old shipping strings was SEG-900M(old number was E-340M) You can use any kind of strings. I'm using SEG-1040ML(Flat Wire)for my '67 175DN. (Gibson discontinued Flat wires, I have some stocks)
