Linl87
Hey every one. I just bought a Epiphone Explorer Goth and I have a question. Dose anyone know what metal is under the black chrome?
Sjael
Welcome, and congrats on the new Goth, I have a goth explorer too and love it, however I've since replaced every piece of metal with MIA chrome stuff of various makes. However, my old black bridge off it was sitting on my desk in front of me, in addition to some sandpaper (great coincidence!) So I took to it, and did some highly accurate weighing of it in my hand, and I can say with a fair degree of certainty that it's probably made out of zinc. Linl87
Hey Sjael, thanks for the info. I've been wondering cause I'd love to get copper plated hardware, and I'm trying to figure out if it'll work on them. So thank you so much. If I can get it to work I'll try to post some pics. Sjael
Yeah, I believe you *should* be able to copper plate the die-cast zinc. In addition, most other common metals can be copper plated, so I don't see too many problems in your future. I'd love to see photos when it's done, it sounds awesome.
