lollar pickups for casino

I played a Casino with a Lollar P90 at the bridge and a Biltoft neck P90. The combination is what sold me on getting a Casino in the first place. I ended up selling a Melody Maker with the same Lollar P90 to be able to afford getting a Casino and changing out the stock PUs (I didn't end up getting the one I tried). I like Jason's pickups and his P90's are top notch. At the neck of a Casino, they give a wide open sound that the stock ones (in their stock configuration) can't give. The stock ones sound weak and almost nasally, in comparison. Together with the Biltoft neck P90, it'd go from that balls out "revolution" tone at the bridge, to organic, almost acoustic sound at the neck. Besides, I live in the same area as Jason (and Pete Biltoft), so I like to support the local guys.

Two things. Before I ordered replacement PUs, I raised my stock ones. There was a marked improvement. I don't want to discourage you from buying from my two favorite PU makers, but try this first. It really livens up the stock ones and you may end up being happy with the change without spending the money. Second, as much as I like Jason's P90s, I ended up with both the bridge and neck from Biltoft. His neck PU is absolutely amazing. In 35 years of playing, I rarely used my neck PU. Now, I use it more than the bridge, or combined with the bridge (middle position). While Pete and I were sealing the deal on the neck pickup, I decided to have him make me the bridge pickup, too. He built it to not only compliment the neck PU, but provide the "zotz" that I'd heard in the Lollar version. I don't say this to steer you away from Lollar, his PUs are the tops. But Biltofts are on a par and have the added benifit of being able to change the magnets out (you get two different values, of four, when you order) that can help shape your sound. Pretty cool.

Sorry to ramble. If you have the money to spend, the Lollar is great PU for the Casino. I recommend the Biltoft at the neck. Spend a little more and change the electronic, too. If nothing else, raise your stock PUs. You'll be glad you did.

thanks for the info. actually i've tried raising them. also there is a big problem w/feedback on the b string. this is

not even w/an amp. but when using a tascam 788 8 track. so the pups also need wax added to them. i was all set to do this but then

thought about the pup replacement. this is a lennon casino i traded for. it needs some work. i've not heard of the other ones you mentioned.

i'm assuming the lollar's would do. tho, i will research the others. thanks again for your imput.
