EPI Enthusiasts! Need info. on 2001 Dot

Hi, I've been trying to find (without much luck) all the info i can on the 2001 Epiphone Dot. what i mean is;

 

-how were they built then?

 

-is that year, or series of years known for any problems in particular?

 

-what pickups were used? and how do they sound?

 

and basically anything else that might be helpful.

 

* here is my situation. . . i typically play a strat, but for some of the stuff i've been working on, a 335 is used, and attempting it through my strat just doesn't make the gravy. but i have a mexican strat too, so i thought i would put it up on craigs list and see what trade offers i could get.

 

which brings us to the 2001 i've been offered. from the pictures it looks to be in excellent shape, but as a i stated before, i don't know much else about them.

 

I play mostly blues-bluesy related music.

 

* I've also been offered a Epiphone Korina 1958 Reissue Explorer which, atleast from a value stand point looks like it would be in my favor, but, again i don't know much about this one either. my basic impression is that it would be suited more to rock and metal than blues, but if someone more knowledgeable could tell me otherwise, i would love to hear it.
