Guitar Newby Posted January 9, 2011 Share Posted January 9, 2011 I recently purchased a Gibson Les Paul Standard Custom Shop guitar off eBay. When I took it into the local Gibson Authorized dealer to be set up, they were concerned that it might be a fake. They had never seen a sparkle finish before and they were concerned about the Custom Shop logo. I immediately contacted Gibson customer service to verify the authenticity of the guitar. Bob in customer service asked me to send him some pictures and the serial number. He then confirmed that in fact Gibson had made a limited run of sparkle finish guitars and the Custom Shop logo was the new Gibson logo.
