Gibson SG 61': Search for a Luthier for restoration

bojo

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm searching for the best luthier I can find to restore what might be an early 60' Gibson SG.

Does anybody have some good recommendations ?

So far I found:

http://www.neelyguitars.com/

http://www.carruthersguitars.com/

http://www.frets.com

Any advice ?

I would prefer to find something in the Los angeles area or at least in California.

Basically I just have the body and neck, the body is partially sanded and completely stripped of all hardware, so I need to find all the parts, vintage or not (didn't think about it yet), electronics and most importantly some good pickups (WCR, Lollar, JM rolph... ?).

Any other advice about where to find parts, how to chose them, etc... is welcome. As you can see I have zero experience in Vintage guitars (and on top of that I'm a Strat guy :-).

Thanks in advance.

Ok, he's expensive for parts....but he's got them. He's a miserable SOB (don't tell him I said it), but he has the parts. How do I know?

He bought one of my 61 Les Paul SGs from a HA auction and....with apologies to John Hiatt, parted it out. Here's his link as a ebay seller..the ^%$^%$

Remember, he's a vindictive SOB, I hate what he did to my 61....but he has the parts and they are authentic...
