tmiranda
Hello I'm new here. I have some doubts. recently acquired, an Epiphone Les paul custom fabricated Unsung 50th anniversary. And I need information about the wood used in construction of it. I'm happy if some good soul can enlighten me. 1 What is the wood used in the body? 2 the construction follows the same pattern of Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty or is laminated. someone has a guitar without the photo finish, exposing the wood? I have a gibson les paul. Let me make a couple of investment is 57 for gibson (epiphone) guitar, but I need this information. grateful Miranda www.tmiranda.com
tmiranda
Hello Peter, Thanks for responding quickly. I know these links. But I think the information surface. tmiranda
You might not get much more additional information from Gibson... One is quite sure, it will not be a one-piece body, Epis are usually put together from 2 or more pieces of some sort of mahogany (BTW Fender is using multi-piece veneer-covered bodys, too - and noone really cares) covered with real wood veneer and a thick skin of Poly The Custom shop logo is just a stamp, they are not made very differently than regular ones, in your case it is just the pic on the back Friend thanks again. I know that one piece is impossible. but would not want a Les paul wood plywood, or wood and Chinese rice. understand? Peeled some of it in pickup and wood interior is tinted pink. African mahogany looks. Being an online memorial, I would be so sure. make me very happy.
Steve-M
Pete has pretty much nailed it for you. You don't have to worry about a legit Epi being made out of plywood. Being an older model it's likely a mahogany body with a thinner maple cap and a veneer over that. Here's an interesting cut-away. I stole this from one of Pete's older posts BTW. Great photo Steve. mine is a 2002. Have I been contemplated? manufactured in Korea. peeled paint on the inside, I think African mahogany.
