I could not believe how much sound it resonated unplugged! I was truly surprised, and had no idea it would be that loud unplugged. It wasn't a minute later that I had it plugged into me Epiphone Valve Jr. combo amp. Even unmodded and with the volume set at about 9 oclock, it sounded very nice indeed!

I have read threads where some folks have had some DOTs and other semi hollow bodied guitars that sounded pretty muffled unplugged. I am happy mine is not that way, and hope the Cherry DOT I have on order sounds good unplugged as well.

and yes, it is going to be great getting back home to my family and friends. It is with mixed feelings though...I have come to love all the co-workers I have now. I hate saying good bye. A couple of the folks here bring their dogs in to work, and I'm the guy who buys the dog treats and gives them to the doggy's.....guess I'll be sending some doggy treats out here every month.....I'll miss those 4 leggeed friends as much as I will their owners......LOL

Fungus,

I, too am a lefty. I decided last week I wanted an Epi Dot to hang out with my Strat and Tele. I've always been a single coil guy but wanted a humbucker guitar for diversity. Most stuff I play is pretty clean so the Dot seemed like the logical choice for the rock and blues I monkey with. I didn't realize Epi had quit making them but found a Cherry red one that was made in 2011 on the used Guitar Center site. Price was too good to pass up - $250 plus $10 shipping and 30-day return policy--which made it about $80 cheaper than the last couple have sold for on ebay after you include the shipping charges. Plus I had them ship it to the local Guitar Center so it won't sit outside while I'm at work. It arrives today so I'm excited. It was pure coincidence that I found it at the right time as I hadn't thought about buying one for years. I don't want to rain on your parade regarding the red one that you have on back order with Guitar Center but it reminds me of what happened to me regarding a lefty Casino. Back in 2005 or 2006 I ordered one from them (once again blissfully ignorant that they had decided to quit making it). It was on back order. Every time the expected ship date would get near they would move it back. Long story short is after 6 months they finally fessed up that there weren't going to be any available. I hope your experience turns out different than mine did. I'm just happy I got in front of this wave of another discontinued lefty guitar as I am still honked off I missed out on a Casino. I was talking with my guitar tech who told me to adjust the pickups first before just replacing them as he thinks the newer models have good pickups in them. He said they're just too hot and need to be lowered to clean up the muddiness. I've already ordered some replacement parts to make it special. I ordered the black bell knobs with the silver metal tops on them. The silver tops should look good with the stainless steel truss rod cover that you can see here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330697478832?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648#ht_839wt_1344. The "E" cut into the cover is made so that it won't be upside down for us lefties. The guitar and the upgrades should all arrive today so I can geek out setting it up and playing all weekend.

Haggis.....I'm with you...I too hope GC gets their act together and that I do indeed end up with my second DOT in Cherry. My whole order has been a nightmare to say the least. I was at GC, and had them order it in the store. I was not told it was on back order, but got the email stating that a few minutes after I left the store. Nice to have email on your phone. To complicate matters, I am also moving mid order.....my order online shows it shipping to the GC here in Washington state. Next Wednesday I will be headed back to Ohio. I had to call and talk to a manager at GC online to get all this straightened out. The guitar still shows as shipping on the 16th, so I'm hoping it's true. Because of the snafu wityh my order, and the fact that I am good at *****ing on the phone, I got them to send me an Epiphone es 335 case for free....that has already shipped to Ohio. Now it's a wait for the guitar. Who knows...I may end up with an es335 case and no DOT to put in it...so...my saga continues. I'll keep you all posted as it unfolds.

Haggis....Thanks.....if I don't get a cherry DOT lefty from GC, I promise you there will be a youtube video explaining all the ugliness from them......I will make them pay one way or the other for advertising products that aren't available.......
