stevestone1988
Looking at getting my first bass. I like them both but go back and forth on which to get. Anyone have a tips as to which may be better and why? Most likely going to be playing anything from Rick James & Sade Adu to any classic rock stuff. Morkolo
Although neither of them are going to be as versatile in a traditional sense as say a Jazz or Precision bass, of the two the Thunderbird would probably be the better choice. I found the Thunderbird wasn't dark and muddy as the EB3 and could be used to play a slap/pop style if needed, whereas the EB3 didn't really work for that. That and a lot of slap style players don't seem to like the big humbucker at the neck on the EB3.
Gaolee
The 'Bird is a long scale. The EB is a short scale. They will feel very different.
russinator
Gibson EB3 = short. Epiphone EB3 = long. :)
