JimR56
Hi I have been interested how the Gibson Byrdland guitar have changed over the years. Here I have some list. Correct and add more detail of you know: Neck - 2 piece neck 1955-1962 - 3 piece neck 1963 onwards - nut width change from 1" 5/8 to 1" 11/16 on year 1963 ?? I don't think they went to 1 11/16" in 1963. Back- carved maple 1955-1962 - laminated maple 1963-1969 The earlier solid maple backs were two-piece, whereas the laminated maple backs were one piece Peghead pearl inlay- 1955-1973 original style - 1974 onwards modern style Not sure what you're referring to here. ? Pickups- 1955-1957 single coil - narrow space PAF 1968 onwards I think you meant "PAF 1958 onwards". Anyway, the original PAF humbuckers only lasted from the late 50's to early 60's. Humbuckers remained as the standard pickups, however. Pot knobs- old style -1969 - black knobs 1970 onwards "Control" knobs is a better term. There's no such thing as "old style". Knob styles changed continually, from 1936 onward on Gibson electrics. Gold "bonnet" knobs were used from '55 to '60; Gold "reflector cap" knobs from '61 to '67; Black "witch hat" knobs after that. Sticker inside guitar- Orange -1969 - Black - purple 1970 onwards The "sticker inside guitar" is known as the "label". :) Orange oval from '55 through '69. Norlin rectangular '70 onwards. pkorte
Hi Jim Byrdland peghead or headstock pearl inlay changes in early 70's. Probably 1973-1074. Make a photo -search and you will see it ;)
JimR56
You're talking about the "flowerpot" inlay (as opposed to the "Gibson" logo inlay, which is also pearl).

pkorte
Hi I Have found some new confusing details, 1959-60 Byrdlands with one piece laminated back. Surely I have seen also 1960 model with carved back. All examples with three piece neck.
