Robin Nahum
ABC (as in Australian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio National broadcast a great program on bluegrass mandolin last week featuring the builder Steve Gilchrist and Mike Compton, who plays mandolin with the Nashville Bluegrass Band and who was visiting down under for a festival. You can hear it online for the next three weeks: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/intothemusic/stories/2008/2313417.htm Lots of stuff about the history of the instrument, its design and construction by Lloyd Loar and the music and players - including of course, Bill Monroe.
