danielroth
I have the option to buy this Les Paul Special tomorrow but have some huge questions. The guy listed it as a 1957 but all my research shows it must be at least a 59. It has humbuckers instead of P90's, has a sunburst finish and some of the parts appear to be replaced (bridge for sure is aftermarket but is a nice after market one). The guy selling it is a genuine person, but I think he might not know the whole story with it. The only pic I have is below. The head stock is standard for the time, but it does not say "Les Paul". The serial number is inscribed on the back of the head stock and is 7 2*** (I forgot to write it down). The case he has with it is tweed with a light pink lining. Any help here? I am going to check it out again tomorrow. I'm going to take the buckers out and look at the cavities and pickups. Any advice as to what I should look for there? I'll be keeping an eye on this, I'm thankful for any words of wisdom.
