Likewise here.  When I had the chance to buy new 2015 Junior and Special DC each at sub $500 prices, I bought one of ea. (especially coming with hard anniversary cases).  Both are great, and I think the Special with the 2 pups may be more versatile.  But I really prefer the Junior for it's raw simplicity.  It is a whole different guitar than a regular 2 humbucker LP.    The Junior is in a league of its own.   The lone volume control gives an amazing range of sound.

Yep - I'm still loving mine 5 years later!

Oh, I am certainly the oddball around here; and very lucky to be tolerated TBH 😉

Ha! No problem. "Each to his own, "YMMV", and all that kinda stuff..

But yeah, when I tried out this 2015 LP Special DC in the store, I immediately took a liking to those alnico slug P90's. I had it plugged into a Twin there (GC) - which certainly didn't hurt the tone any  - but once I got it home and ran it through my amps (Deluxe Reverb, Vox AC15, and '69 Champ), I was still enamored with the tones I was getting from these pickups.

The fact that it was on sale for $599.99 didn't hurt, either.

I haven't played one. I did play a bunch of LP DCs back in 2015, I really wanted to like them but just didn't like the sound of the P90s.

I felt the exact opposite. I bought my 2015 LP Special Double Cut precisely because I did love the sound of the alnico slug P90's..

Well, that, and the light weight of this one.

(And the blow-out price didn't hurt, either!)

That price is insane! But I'm not sure how I feel about those inlays. For the price though... how could you say no?!

Yeah, to be honest, those inlays threw me off at first - I prefer the double trapezoid - that's why I wanted to "sleep on it"..

But then I decided for the price, I might as well go back and get it - But as I mentioned, the next day it was long gone...

  5. Shoulda grabbed this one at Sam Ash a while back for a grand. They probably would have come down a tad, as well.

Not sure of the year - Maybe someone can chime in on that..

Went home to sleep on it - then went back the next day to get it. Gone!

  6. Congrats! I hear you on the 335 Studios. I absolutely love mine! I've got a 2017 (that I got at the CME blowout of that year), and this guitar just keeps getting better and better.

  7. I snagged a brand new 2017 335 Studio in the CME blowout of that year (for a fantastic price), and love it.

It's got a '57 Classic in the neck and Super '57 in the bridge. Baked maple fretboard, but it sounds great to my ears - nice and snappy.

Build quality is superb. Can't say enough good things about it.

(It came sans pickguard, so I added one.)

Thanks! I think the 2014's are pretty close to the 2013's in quality - from what I've heard.

The 2013 SG Standards and Originals are awesome SGs.  Absolutely one of my favorites!

Other than the smaller headstock and crown placement of the Standard, they are a clone of the previous years '61 RI. (Not withstand the ABR-1 bridge used from 1992 to mid year 2003) 😉

That's what I hear about the 2013 Standards as well - pretty much exactly like the previous year's '61 RI (other than the smaller headstock, etc. that you mentioned).

And yes, this 2013 Standard is just a fantastic SG.

  10. A friend of mine recently sold his '72 w/ Bigsby. Light as a feather, and had the really slender neck. The "Gibson"-embossed T-Tops sounded amazing..

I still regret not buying it from him..
