I just received a 1961 ES-335 VOS from the Custom Shop. It's better than my original 1965 that it's replacing, and I would bet that it's every bit as good as the original 1961, possibly even better considering the amount of care put into it vs a 60's production line guitar. Age isn't everything and Gibson spent over a year devoted to measuring and duplicating the 1961 ES-335. This VOS is just like the original but with more care put into making it
